Samsung Revealed World's Thinnest Optical Disc Drive : SE-218BB

At the first timing of launching tablets, slates and ultrabooks the necessity of a DVD drive were a big problem. The users of the MacBook Air have bought a Superdrive for this reason. Yet we’re not quite in the era when we can do our work without an optical drive. Samsung revealed the latest, world's thinnest and very beautifully designed Samsung SE-218BB this week. The device is just 14mm thick, 18% lighter and 8% less weighty than average DVD ODD.

Samsung has revealed the SE-218BB with keeping mind the term ‘universal compatibility’ as it runs on Windows 7, Linux and Mac OS. Even it also supports Android tablet if the tablet features a full sized USB port, running on Android 3.1 Honeycomb and above. The writing speeds and data media types include 24X CD-ROM, 24X CD-RW, 8X DVD±R recording, 5X DVD-RAM recording, 6X DVD+R Dual Layer recording, 6X DVD-R Dual Layer recording, 8X DVD+RW recording and 6X DVD-RW recording.
The ODD is also an eco-friendly product which is manufactured with lead-free soldering technology . The world’s thinnest optical disc drive Samsung SE218BB is now released and costs around $59.99.
